Toward Racial Healing, Reconciliation, and Transformation

Campus Centers for Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation

Rutgers University - Newark established a Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Campus Center as one of ten inaugural campus centers selected by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) with funding from the W.K. Kellogg and Newman's Own Foundations in 2017.

TRHT Campus Centers develop and implement visionary action plans to engage and empower campus and community stakeholders to identify and disrupt biases as a means of preparing current and future generations of leaders and thinkers to build more equitable communities.

National Day of Racial Healing

The National Day of Racial Healing provides universities and communities to reflect on how people and organizations work together on #HowWeHeal from the effects of racism. Established in 2017, the National Day of Racial Healing fosters opportunities for all people to explore and interrogate their common humanity and inspire individual and collective action to create a more just and equitable world.

The observance was created, in part, by Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation (TRHT) community partners. Central to this day is an understanding the racial healing is core to racial equity. This day is observed on the Tuesday immediately following Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The TRHT at Rutgers-Newark hosts an annual Week of Racial Healing from January 18-25, 2022.

This is how we heal
