Early Career and Racial Equity Program

About E-CARE

The AEM Early Career and Racial Equity (E-CARE) program is designed to promote inclusive community, combat isolation, and mitigate against bias that can negatively shape the experiences of early career faculty who are underrepresented in academia and/or whose research focus is on racial equity and disparities.

A Mosaic of Support

We have designed comprehensive and intensive mentorship domains to achieve E-CARE programmatic aims. Explore the mosaic of support below.

Institutional Navigation

Intentional onboarding supports faculty success in the first year. The campus FDC liaison plays a critical role in bridging local needs and central resources for new faculty. 

Advancement

E-CARE Senior Faculty Success Partners provide intensive small group and individualized support offering guidance and long-range planning to support promotion and tenure ambitions as well as increasing professional visibility.

Research

E-CARE participants are encouraged to identify a discipline specific mentor(s) and/or mentoring committee either within or outside of the university.

Inclusive Community

E-CARE participants exists in longitudinal community as the program spans 18-months. The senior faculty success partners and cohort peers have the singular aim of reducing isolation and creating a community of support.

Life-work resiliency

E-CARE centers holistic support attending to the professional needs and recognizing the organizational and global challenges that can impact success. Through 1:1 coaching and group process we encourage reflection and provide support to navigate challenges.
