Improving Campus Climate
The work of improving the campus climate - our shorthand for it is working towards inclusion, will take all of us. Our ask is that you don't let this just be a data point or a report that sits on a shelf. Take this as an opportunity to get informed, and to think about the actions that you want to take to improve the climate.

Perceptions Matter
The 2023 Rutgers DEI Campus Climate Survey asked students, faculty, and staff about their perspectives on diversity, equity, and inclusion at the institution.
Specifically, it assessed: 1) perceptions of the inclusiveness of the university community overall, 2) perceptions of individual employment and/or academic experiences, 3) perceptions of whether experiences and interactions were shaped by social identity, and 4) perceptions of fair and equitable treatment.
Use of Findings
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Campus Climate Survey results underscore the importance of regularly collecting data to promote a shared understanding of the DEI campus climate.
The community’s perspectives, opinions, and experiences related to these topics will inform current and future decisions about supporting a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant campus and guiding actions within academic and administrative units to improve the DEI climate.
The results also provide a baseline understanding that enables us to measure change over time as we work to foster an inclusive campus environment that advances our university goal.

Take Action to Improve the DEI Campus Climate
Campus climate action planning enables us to consider how to best manage challenging times that can constrain our ability to execute our educational mission when disagreements prohibit dialogue and make visible fractures in our community.
Every organizational unit is strongly encouraged to engage in campus climate action planning. University Equity and Inclusion created the Campus Climate Action Planning Guide to support leaders in understanding and using the DEI climate data.
