About
Frederick Curry (he/him) is Director of the Rutgers Ed.M Program in Dance Education and the Mason Gross Polestar Pilates Teacher Training Program. He is co-faculty lead for the Rutgers Global short-term study abroad program "Afro-Brazilian Dance and Music in Salvador, Brazil." As a Laban/Bartenieff movement analysis specialist, he has led workshops and presented at conferences internationally including Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and throughout the United States. He is on faculty at the Dance Education Laboratory at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, has served on the Board of Directors of the National Dance Education Organization, and as Assistant Editor of Dance Education in Practice journal published by Taylor and Francis.
Current Work
My current work focuses on dance pedagogy, dance teacher identity, culturally responsive somatics, arts and wellness and dances of the Black African diaspora.
