About
I am a social work educator, practitioner, and researcher. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience in child welfare, mental and behavioral health, case management, and advocacy. I have a small private practice and consulting firm. I am trained in family therapy and EMDR and certified in REBT and child sexual abuse therapy. I am the past president of the National Association of Social Workers, NJ Chapter. I also serve on various councils, advisory boards, and coalitions.
I am a proud mother of one daughter. She recently graduated from Rutgers Business School with her DBA. I enjoy spending time with my two dogs, Nala and Aria, close friends, sorority sisters, and volunteering in the community. My interests include walking and exercising, journaling, praying and meditating, drinking tea and reading, traveling, catching up with family members, and watching my favorite TV shows.
Current Work
I am an Associate Professor of Professional Practice at Rutgers School of Social Work (SSW). I co-facilitate the clinical specialization group, co-led the teaching circle, and member of the IIDEA committee at the SSW. I am a Ph.D. candidate pursuing my second doctorate in Family Science and Human Development. My defense is scheduled for the end of this month. Yay! I am the current president of the SSW Alumni Council. In addition, I am an active member of my sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a member of the National Association of Black Social Workers License Committee.
