Faculty Diversity Advocate

Become a Faculty Diversity Advocate

Partner with the Division of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement to inform and support broader institutional efforts to advance an inclusive campus culture through providing feedback on program and resource development initiatives for faculty and promoting engagement by sharing upcoming initiatives in your department.

We seek one faculty member from each department for a twelve-month term.

Faculty Diversity Advocates will:

  • Promote the activities of the Division of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement.

  • Work with their School Diversity Champion.

  • Attend one meeting each semester to learn about school and campus wide diversity initiatives.

  • Provide feedback on programming, resource development, and broader institutional efforts to support diversity in the faculty ranks.

  • Send notices out to their department members to promote engagement and awareness of resources.

  • Serve as a resource to promote attention to diversity in faculty recruitment.

  • Encourage department members to apply for Diversity Innovation Grants and future funding opportunities that enable faculty to join in the work of building sustaining community.

  • Cultivate other faculty members from their departments to become future Faculty Diversity Advocates.

  • Remain a resource for diversity after their term has expired.

In appreciation for their participation, Faculty Diversity Advocates will:

  • Be featured on the diversity website.
