Developing a Culturally Responsive Curriculum
Culturally competent courses can provide instructors and students with the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and behaviors to engage in positive relationships, and effectively work in cross-cultural situations. This workshop will encourage teaching assistants to review their course materials and consider whether readings, media, lectures, or assignments can be adjusted to be more inclusive and representative of the diversity of the university. Themes will include integrating cultural relevance and diverse role models and confronting and revising stereotypes. Addresses Competency 2.
